My Youngest Wants To Play Sax!

My youngest daughter comes home from school today and she said the school's music teacher made a presentation to their class regarding band. He was listing all the different instruments that they offer for starting players. They talked about where to rent or buy, what was the best price, what's the easiest to start on.

So she wants to either try the clarinet or saxophone. The clarinet would be cheaper and easier to learn on, but the sax might have more uses but costs more. Hmmm. Pretty cool. I'll keep you posted.

Yay woodwinds! While it may not come in handy as much as piano or guitar, sax would definitely rock more than clarinet (and I played clarinet for over 10 years. And once she gets going, pay the extra money and get the Vandoren reeds. They do make a difference!)

I remember when I took my youngest daughter to choose her instrument. I assumed it would be a flute like her sisters played. I was doing my best to block the piccolos from her line of sight, and praying very hard against the clarinets (squeeky!) She took one look at the shiny shiny sax, and fell in love. Sadly, it was bigger than she was (although she fit nicely into the case) and couldn't haul it around or even lift it, so she had to give it up. A little part of her died that day, and she never played another instrument ...until she became a cheerleader, and rocked the CD player. (You don't want no Green Machine)
